As stated by one critic, Hector deCordova's paintings are "never just one thing" and to summarize his work in any way "would be folly". Just when a viewer thinks he has identified a "style" or a "pattern" he presents us with something new; experimenting in all types of medium and letting the paint flow from his brush taking him and you, the viewer, on a journey of discovery be it an emotion, an idea, an intangible.
Beyond the accomplished artistic technique evident in his paintings, there always remains an element of revelation-something every artist enjoys, but which Mr. deCordova relishes with its possibilities.
If there were a theme to this show it would probably be called "The work he is most proud of...so far"

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
BARBARA BILOTTA
I believe the language of form remains the key to unlocking the magic of art. I use form and color to achieve an emotional response. My goal is to transform the natural order into a suggestive interpretation to stimulate the imagination. My hope is that what one sees and enjoys in my work remains a highly personal experience.
ERIC ERNST
I ascribe to the statement made by Jean Cocteau "An artist cannot speak about his art any more than a plant can discuss horticulture." That being said, my new work embodies structurally arranging the works to be viewed as small scale architectonic spaces, thereby incorporating elements of representational imagery into my constructions. These serve to create an interaction of forms, shapes, and colors that, mixed with musical and harmonic elements, conjure a more immediate narrative and strive to transcend the limits of pure geometric abstraction.
COLIN GOLDBERG
My current work, which I have classified loosely as 'techspressionism', is an exploration of the intersection of technology and abstraction. Influences include the New York School Abstract Expressionist painters of the 1950's, wireframe diagrams used in industrial design, street art, and shodo, the art of Japanese calligraphy.
MIKE MAAS
I became intrigued by the creative energy of the Abstract Expressionists upon entering Pratt Institute where I studied with noteworthy Abstract Expressionist sculptor Calvin Albert. Music, the human figure, and nature can provide the perfect point of departure for the artist inclined toward an abstracted, more purely poetic approach to the visual arts.
